## Submitting Feedback

If you encounter errors, misleading or outdated information, report it so Expo can be improved:

Preferred command:
npx --yes submit-expo-feedback@latest --category docs --subject "/versions/v58.0.0/sdk/ui/jetpack-compose/compositionlocalprovider/" "<actionable feedback>"

Direct HTTP fallback:
curl -X POST https://api.expo.dev/v2/feedback/docs-send -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -d '{"url":"/versions/v58.0.0/sdk/ui/jetpack-compose/compositionlocalprovider/","feedback":"🤖 Agent feedback for docs: <specific, actionable description> (<model>, <harness>)"}'

Only submit when you have something specific and actionable to report. Try to give the most context.

Android, Included in Expo Go

Expo UI CompositionLocalProvider matches the official Jetpack Compose [`CompositionLocalProvider`](https://developer.android.com/reference/kotlin/androidx/compose/runtime/package-summary#CompositionLocalProvider\(kotlin.Array,kotlin.Function0\)) API. It provides values to all components inside it. It adds no layout of its own, so children keep modifiers such as `weight` from the parent `Row` or `Column`.

## Installation

```sh
# npm
npx expo install @expo/ui
# yarn
yarn expo install @expo/ui
# pnpm
pnpm expo install @expo/ui
# bun
bun expo install @expo/ui
```

If you are installing this in an [existing React Native app](https://docs.expo.dev/bare/overview.md), make sure to [install `expo`](https://docs.expo.dev/bare/installing-expo-modules.md) in your project.

## Usage

### Smaller touch targets

Material components such as `Button`, `IconButton`, `Checkbox`, `RadioButton`, and `Switch` reserve at least 48dp of space for touch, even when they are drawn smaller. Set `minimumInteractiveComponentSize` to `0` to remove this minimum. Make sure that the controls are still easy to tap.

```tsx
import {
  Checkbox,
  CompositionLocalProvider,
  Host,
  IconButton,
  Row,
  Text,
} from '@expo/ui/jetpack-compose';
import { size } from '@expo/ui/jetpack-compose/modifiers';
import { useState } from 'react';
export default function SmallTouchTargetsExample() {
  const [checked, setChecked] = useState(false);
  return (
    <Host matchContents>
      <CompositionLocalProvider
        values={{ minimumInteractiveComponentSize: 0 }}>
        <Row
          horizontalArrangement={{ spacedBy: 8 }}
          verticalAlignment="center">
          <IconButton
            modifiers={[size(24, 24)]}
            onClick={() => console.log('Pressed')}>
            <Text>+</Text>
          </IconButton>
          <Checkbox value={checked} onCheckedChange={setChecked} />
        </Row>
      </CompositionLocalProvider>
    </Host>
  );
}
```

## API

```tsx
import { CompositionLocalProvider } from '@expo/ui/jetpack-compose';
```

## Component

### `CompositionLocalProvider`

Supported platforms: Android.

Type: React.[Element](https://www.typescriptlang.org/docs/handbook/jsx.html#function-component)<[CompositionLocalProviderProps](https://docs.expo.dev/versions/v58.0.0/sdk/ui/jetpack-compose/compositionlocalprovider.md#compositionlocalproviderprops)\>

Provides composition local values to its children, like Jetpack Compose's `CompositionLocalProvider`. It adds no layout of its own, so children keep modifiers such as `weight` from the parent `Row` or `Column`.

CompositionLocalProviderProps

### `children`

Supported platforms: Android.

Optional • Type: [ReactNode](https://reactnative.dev/docs/react-node)

The content that receives the values.

### `values`

Supported platforms: Android.

Type: [CompositionLocalValues](https://docs.expo.dev/versions/v58.0.0/sdk/ui/jetpack-compose/compositionlocalprovider.md#compositionlocalvalues)

The values to provide to the children.

## Types

### `CompositionLocalValues`

Supported platforms: Android.

Composition local values that `CompositionLocalProvider` can provide.

| Property | Type | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| minimumInteractiveComponentSize(optional) | `number` | The minimum size, in dp, that Material components such as `Button`, `IconButton`, `Checkbox`, and `Switch` reserve for their touch target. Maps to `LocalMinimumInteractiveComponentSize`. Set it to `0` to let these components be smaller than Material's default of 48dp. |
